Don Quade
THE relationship between opposite and competing elements in nature and every day life are profound sources of inspiration in Don Quade’s paintings. Each painting tells a story of people, places, experiences, and the wonder of living. The segments contain images and planes of color that independent yet co-dependent. This coexistence of smaller compositions within a larger painting is symbolic of the interconnectivity between living and inanimate objects.
A widely-collected artist, Don Quade evokes the pleasant memories our minds refer to with pleasant nostalgia: happy days of bright sun, gentle breezes, soothing patterns and colors, enhanced by recollection. He communicates primal emotions with stylized imagery of leaves, horizons, trees, flowers and rocks. Don is an acknowledged master of form, texture and color.
Don Quade grew up in El Paso, Texas. His ideas are influenced strongly by the vast open spaces, clarity of light and hues found in the American southwest. He holds a BFA from Colorado State University. Don continued his studies in painting and collage at the Taos Institute of Arts, The Arts League of Denver and Anderson Ranch. His education and extensive experience as a graphic designer inform his paintings and mixed media découpage. He, his wife and son live in Denver, Colorado, where he spends much of his time creating in his studio. Don’s work is found in numerous private and corporate collections across the United States, as well as in our very own art gallery in Scottsdale, AZ.
