dryad-bronze-17x14x16-6800
Dyad, View 1, 17 x 14 x 16, Bronze "The figure for "Dryad" was sculpted from life, though I changed some aspects of the model to create a less realistic and more etherial feeling in which to depict the young naked tree spirit lamenting the passing of her protective home, the oak. I used the interwoven roots of the tree as a way to visually echo her crossed legs, making her one with the tree. I hoped to create a piece that portrayed the interconnected intimacy and oneness of living beings." -LM

“I am fascinated by the expressions of the human face, the language of the body, and the stories they tell. However, it is the mystery of the untold story each subject keeps hidden away that continually feeds my passion to create.” – LM

“I believe art is meant to be beautiful, to elicit compassion or to lift the spirit. Our surroundings should be filled with such art, and in every endeavor we undertake we ought to do it as artfully and beautifully as possible, considering the generations to come.”
-LM
