Neil Myers
Giants of the Desert, 36 x 48, Oil on Canvas
Neil Myers was born and raised in Elkin, North Carolina. His first brush with art was from his mother, who happened to be an accomplished painter. Later in life, Neil attended Lenoir-Rhyne College. He spent a semester abroad in Aix-En Provence France, studying the French language as well as French Literature and Art. While in France, he visited many of the famous sites of paintings from Cezanne, Gauguin and Van Gogh.
In 2003, Neil and his wife explored the American southwest. Neil found himself drawn to New Mexican and Arizonan Vistas. Some of his favorite subjects are the mighty Saguaros, old Missions, the stunning red rocks of Sedona, and the magnificent views of the Grand Canyon. In coming years, Neil plans to head north and explore Utah’s Monument Valley and more of Northern New Mexico’s Chaco Canyon. Neil’s work is reminiscent of the Post-Impressionist masters, but with a southwestern touch.
Neil Myers’ paintings and artwork can be viewed and are available for purchase at the Marshall LeKae Gallery in Scottsdale.
