Scott Harris
“Each of my paintings contain and hold both completion and incompletion: the figures are fully realized and rendered, while their character and the stories that they tell remain open-ended with neither beginning nor end. The spare environments, theatrical lighting and costumes enhance the sense of a moment that is frozen; they invite the viewer to fill in the blanks. The characters may be vain, whimsical, thoughtful, or sober as they relate to each other … and the inanimate objects may contain as much life and meaning as the characters themselves.”
Scott Harris received his BFA in painting at indiana University, followed by graduate studies in Rome, Italy at the Tyler School of Art. Along with painting, for 30 years he has been a visual effects artist and designer for film and video.
