Exclusive Glass Invitational

Exclusive Glass Invitational

The Marshall-LeKAE Gallery will be hosting an exclusive glass invitational. The event begins March 29th, from 7 to 9 pm, in recognition of the 50 year anniversary of the studio glass movement in the US. The show will include works of renowned glass artists, Randi Solin, George Bucquet, Brian Russell, David Patchen, Jeremy Newman, Allison Ciancibelli and Hot Island Glass.

There will be a special reception held Wednesday, March 28th with a presentation by Randi Solin exclusively for members of the Arizona Glass Alliance. Opening night for the public coincides with the Artwalk, Thursday, March 29th from 7 to 9 pm, hors’ douvers and wine will be served.

All artists featured in the invitational have made significant contribution in the world of art glass .

Randi Solin has developed a highly inventive style and coloration process that is entirely hers. “I build layer upon layer of color with glass, like a painter’s palette, to create original, homogeneous coloration and true, one of a kind work.” Her work remains unmatched and collectors continue to be dazzled by her exceptional technical skill that produces alluring glass art.

Another collection showcased is the collaborative work of Chris Lowry and Christopher Richards who combine to create the Hot Island Glass Studio. The rich colors and forms of the Hawaiian Islands inspire these glass blowers that are well known for their distinctive vessels and sculptural pieces.

Jeremy Newman and Allison Ciancibellis Twisp River Glass will also be featured. This work is highly influenced by the natural world and our role within the environment. The subtle colors and open spaces lend to a sense of calmness within the pieces. They are simple, abstract compositions, allowing for interpretation by the viewer.

Brian Russell’s intriguing work will also be featured, which includes cast glass and forged metal sculptures. The artist draws inspiration from the rhythms of nature, ancient artifacts, science and most importantly, his imagination.

The work from artist George Bucquet will also be showcased. His creations appear to be illuminated from within and possess a wistful, meditative quality. He creates works by pouring hot liquid glass into a handmade sand mold and adds various copper, silver and gold leaf accents.

Lastly, San Francisco artist David Patchen’s creates glassworks with intricate details and intense colors that are incredibly unique and memorizing to the eye. This veteran musician turned glass innovator is well known in the Northern California glass circuit and beyond.

This promises to be a night to remember. Come join us for an event filled with stunning collections of fine glasswork as well as refreshments, h’orderves, and good company.
